Gift Idea Wednesdays: 5 Minute Arm Warmers

Ok everyone, there are only 38 days left until Christmas. Time to get crackin' on some homemade gifts.

Here's a super quick craft that will make a great gift for all the fashionistas and hipsters in your family. In fact, it was so easy, I thought maybe I was doing it wrong...

Arm warmers-YAY!

Do you have old sweaters laying around that you haven't gotten around to throwing away? Yeah, me neither. I had to hit the Salvation Army family store for this gem:

It's pretty cute, but there are holes in it and it fits weird. So I'm gonna cut it up.

First put the sweater on your arms and mark the length that you want for the warmers. I put the sleeves a little over my hands and marked it before it reached my elbow. Then cut the sleeves off the sweater. Mark where you want your thumb to go and either use scissors or a seam ripper to tear a thumb sized hole along the seam.

Then if the sweater doesn't seem like it will fray, you are done. But I did a hem on the part of the sleeve closest to my elbow just in case.

If the arms are too big (like if you are making it for a kid, or something), rip along the whole seam, turn it inside out on a small arm and pin to take it in. Then sew along where you pinned. Easy peasy ;)

Cool-I love quick and easy crafts!

It was a little hard to take pictures of these on my own, so I enlisted the help of my husband.

I guess I was hamming it up a little...there may have been some voguing and possible robot dance moves involved.

Make these!

They rock.

My arms are super warm right now.

Excellent idea! I was just thinking of making something like this to psych myself up for going out into the cold.
